After all the hype about it, and all the interest from so many women, I cant believe how underwhelming, vacuous and boring Eat Pray Love is. I cant even be bothered watching it to the end. Its been almost two hours so far and she still seems not present in the role. Nothing happens. Its like a dull travelogue made by a teenager dabbling in meaningless experiences. The concept is sound, and a true story, but the journey she takes seems as boring as the marriage she ran away from. I can see that the idea of running off to romantic locations and abandoning responsibility to find oneself is very appealing for many women who feel trapped, but this film just doesnt cut it for me. Maybe it was the script, maybe it was Ms Julia, but the whole execution is flat and lifeless and disappointing. 2 stars from me.
