After all the over indulgence of the festive season many people - TopicsExpress

After all the over indulgence of the festive season many people take to going for long walks to lose the Christmas pudding. Here on the Nature Isle of the Caribbean we have plenty to chose from but the most feared and respected is probably the boiling lake hike. Over a distance of about 11 miles hikers will cross rivers, climb mountains, traverse volcanic valleys of steaming bubbling mud and eventually arrive at the worlds second largest boiling lake. This cauldron, some 200ft across is filled with boiling sulphur rich water, often shrouded in clouds of steam which hide the view until the breeze drifts it away to allow a teasing glimpse. Arriving at the lake is a fine reward for the effort of getting there but the hike also has an incredible variety of terrain to experience and tremendous views to appreciate. There are also hot pools of milky blue water fed by mini waterfalls to tempt you to take a relaxing spa on the return journey. Yesterday I completed my 26th trip in fine company as our guests Boris and Charlotte took the challenge on the last day of their stay on Dominica.
