After almost 8 years of a style of government best described as ‘bewildering, immature and shallow’, SODELPA has put together a very capable team best qualified to arrest the slide to ruin, and reposition Fiji as a true democracy, on which we build peace and prosperity for all. With Finances, it will be a huge undertaking for SODELPA as this government has been spending money like a ‘drunken sailor’, running into billions, without accounting for a single cent. SODELPA may just be horrified with what it discovers, but we are well equipped for the task. Let’s not forget that many in the team were part of the SDL Government that guided Fiji from the devastation of the 2000 coup to 6 years of steady growth. Equally important is the restoration of goodwill, so vital in a country with ethnic diversity. This government has crudely dismantled institutions dear and sacred to the iTaukei and abolished all those schemes set up as affirmative action, to accelerate the development of the iTaukei. This government mistakenly believes that such institutions and special schemes were keeping Fiji backward. SODELPA vehemently opposes such philosophy and will restore all those institutions, and affirmative action to assist the iTaukei. SODELPA believes that we support each other in order to move forward together. We weaken ourselves by weakening a part of our community, such as being done to the iTaukei. The task will be huge and encompassing items such as the CONSTITUTION (to be changed by law including changing the principles of SECULAR STATE(as Fiji worships The HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL and father of Jesus Christ our Saviour); HUMAN RIGHTS; LAND RIGHTS OF THE iTAUKEI; GROUP RIGHTS OF THE iTAUKEI; QOLIQOLI; SURFING AREAS; FNPF(pensions); CASINOS (declare without ambiguity that we are a Casino free nation); EDUCATION; HEALTH; YOUTH; WOMEN; ECONOMY; SUGAR INDUSTRY; AGRICULTURE; FORESTRY; FISHERIES; MINERAL RESOURCES; TOURISM; SMALL BUSINESS SECTOR; ROAD & AIR TRANSPORT; SEA TRANSPORT; WATER SUPPLY; ENERGY; INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY; LOCAL GOVERNMENT & URBAN DEVELOPMENT; HOMELAND SECURITY; SPORTS & RECREATION; RURAL DEVELOPMENT; HOUSING; SOCIAL WELFARE; SQUATTER SETTLEMENT; PUBLIC SERVICE SALARIES & WAGES; SPECIAL AUDIT & REVIEW. In conclusion, there has never been an election as important as this one for 2014. The choice is very simple: do I take back control of my country and have a say in it the way it used to be? Or, will I allow those who abuse fundamentals of governance, ruling through fear, suppressing my rights, to continue running my life.
