After an amazing 8 month trip around Australia I am selling my 1997 Toyota LandCruiser Prado GLX (3.4 V6 Petrol) for Backpackers or OZ campers If you really want to see all of Australia including WA and NT (which are in my humble opinion the best parts). This is the car to take you there without you having to worry about breaking down, I rescued 2 broken down cars and 1 stuck one along the way :). For sale for $10900 ONO In Sydney IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS -Very reliable car (Used by the locals everywhere which means if you would break down, spares will be available). These cars are built to go anywhere(beach, sand, rocks, rivers…) -1st generation backpacker car: Only one previous australian owner and I built everything in it (mechanical engineer). -Only 207 000km which is not much for a prado This one has a couple more laps around Australia in it! -Registration NSW until 10 march 2015 (5 months left) extendable via phone/internet because no RWC is needed for the next 6 months -Double Tank : Main tank (90L) + Sub tank (69L) ==> 1200 km autonomy (choose the cheapest petrol station in the outback ! and noJerry cans) -Upgraded suspension (dont worry about corrugations), with adjustable airbags in the back (Keep a comfortable ride no matter how heavy you load it) -Heavy duty clutch -Diff breathers (no need to worry about water getting into your diff-oil when crossing water. -limited slip diff -cruise control -New steering rack 8 months old -New Bosch heavy duty battery 5 months old -Washable airfilter (no need to buy new ones after doing dusty outback roads, just give it a rince) -No fines! Strong setup, nothing had to be fixed during the trip. -Tinted glasses for intimacy and staying fresh inside the car. -Solid Bulbar with lights (a must have in Australia for the kangaroo protection saved me a couple of times). -Air con (keep it cool when the sun is very hot and don’t impact the consumption). -Low consumption for a 4x4: between 10L-14L/100km depending road-city and how much stuff is on the roof-rack -400W inverter (not the cheap one who doesn’t work with every equipment) to recharge your laptop, camera batteries. -Car radio Clarion (Installed when i bought it) with iPod and USB compatible with a real good sound system. -Service done every 10 000km including gearbox an diffs. -Gave the car the best service ever when I was working as a car mechanic (Took me a day) -Rhino rack roof rack (8 months old) with rhino rack roof rack bag, to keep luggage dust and waterproof on the roof LIST OF EQUIPMENT BELOW (not fully complete, just the main stuff) -120cm memory foam mattress -1 down quilt -Pillow -1 camping table -4 camping chairs -1 2-person tent -1 sleeping bag -1 fishing rod with assortment of hooks and stuff -Big tarp and poles to make a shelter next to the car in case of rail/sun -25L water tank + 10 L one -A Tool box (with everything you could need to repair of measure…) including multimeter, wrenches, drill, etc... -1 big esky (48L) (holds food and ice with room left for 24 beers :) ) -1 Camp cooker -2 compressors to reinflate your tires at any time (15-20 psi for sand -> 40 psi highw) -Shovel and snatch-strap (everybody can get stuck) -Dishes (plates, bowls, cultery, etc for 4...) -HQ non stick pan (So easy to clean :) ) -1 big storage box for food -1 12V rechargable camping lamp -Spare brake-pads, fuses, spark plugs, etc….
