After an intensive eight (8) month spell, working as a student - TopicsExpress

After an intensive eight (8) month spell, working as a student correspondent for a UK Young Reporters Scheme in South London, Im pleased to announce that Ive won myself a brand new dell computer laptop, a bag, a mouse, keyboard, two memory stick drives, an official award brochure of the 2014 Young Reporters Scheme together with a letter of recognition signed by Andrew Parkes, Group Managing Editor of the Newsquest South London, all of which were packaged up in a cage and delivered to Gambia after 4 weeks of container shipment and finally presented to me by Mrs. Hilary Lawther, a Trustee of a Gambian schools Trust in Bradford. It was the first time the scheme had encountered a student from overseas and it was a totally new experience for me to participate in a UK Young Reporters scheme, alongside other British students, experiencing real life as a professional journalist and meeting deadliness etc. The most rewarding thing in the scheme is getting all my articles published in over 5 local newspapers in the UK, run by the Newsquest Company. The Young Reporters scheme has been an opportunity for me to explore my creativity, writing several articles about The Gambia on current affairs, health, agriculture, tourism, environment, social issues hindering youth development, amongst other breathtaking and revealing stories about Africa. I wish to seize this opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the efforts, advise, moral and financial support of certain individuals whose motivation and encouragements, which i heeded to served as a springboard to achieving the first phase of our young journalism career. Special Thanks and appreciation to my family, especially my late Father and Brother, whom im really missing in my life after their untimely demise recently. Im overwhelmed by the support extended to me by His Royal Highness, Prince Bubacarr Aminata Sankanu of Colonge, Germany, Creative and unconventional Thinker & public intellectual, Film Maker, Producer, Author, seasoned Journalist. Im grateful to Mr. Saikou Ceesay, Managing Editor of Gambia Affairs Online Newspaper for his support and brotherly advice. My heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes out to Mrs. Diana Jarvis, the Schools Coordinator at Newsquest South London Student Journalism Scheme. Shes one of the most incredible and extraordinary Briton ive ever meet in my life. She has supported me through in every aspect during my brief stint in the Young Reporters Scheme. Also, I will be ungrateful if i didnt congratultate Mr. Anthony Carranza, A freelance digital media journalist and blogger based out of Toulouse and now in Cali, Columbia for his brotherly support and advise. I say a BIG thank you to all my friends, family, colleague in the media, and to each and everyone of you out there for your amazing love, care and support to Abdoulie. My whole life will be meaningless without you! My gratitude to Karmic Angels for adding value to my work as a journalist with provision of a brand new JAIKE Android smartphone. Special love to Mrs. Hilary Lawther & Husband Steve, for safely and securely delivering the prize from UK to Gambia. Im sort of words to express my deepest appreciations to you all for everything in my life. However, It is impossible to mention all those lovely friends and mates out there for your continued support but i still remember you all apologies for not being able to mention your name. May God continue to guide, bless and protect through in your endeavors. May God crown all your efforts with great success, prosperity & good health. Thank you all. Xxx
