After attending Candle light Vigil, I felt quite uncomfortable in - TopicsExpress

After attending Candle light Vigil, I felt quite uncomfortable in my heart. Then I started justifying that our intention was pure. We gathered for solidarity and show unity etc etc. People say its a practice of Christians yet nobody provides a link or two to prove it. So, I started searching about its origin on my own. I found that It indeed is a practice in Catholic Funerals. During the Vigil, the casket is usually open, flanked by candles at both ends (ones Baptismal Candle should be used, if possible). https://fisheaters/funerals.html For all of us who attended Candle light vigil, Please just seek forgiveness from Allah and give up this tradition once and for all as Allah says, Whoever imitates a people is one of them. (Narrated by Abu Dawood, al-Libaas, 3512) If you are still not convinced, Please read the following ahadith. 1. Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) say: “That which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear. Between the two are doubtful matters that few people have knowledge about. Whoever avoids these doubtful matters absolves himself of blame with respect to his religion and his honor. Whoever falls into doubtful things will fall into what is unlawful.... [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim] 2. Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, the grandson of the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: I memorised from the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) “Refrain from what you doubt for that which you do not doubt.” Candle light vigil is a doubtful matter. Praying for the martyrs after any good deed and in times when dua (supplication) is more likely to be accepted by Allah (SWT) is undoubted. Now, Shaitan would trigger you to defend this act just like It triggered me to be defensive initially. But Read the following so you may defeat Shaitan and avoid these vigils hereafter.
