After attending McCracken fiscal court meeting last night - TopicsExpress

After attending McCracken fiscal court meeting last night regarding discussion of merging the animal shelter back to the old humane society, I was encouraged that so many dedicated volunteers who have been working tirelessly for 3 yrs to help the animals, stood up and spoke out in opposition to that merger. We oppose giving any more of our taxes to an organization with a criminal history of animal cruelty, a lack of transparency, selling dogs at ridiculous prices, sitting on over a million dollars while planning a capital campaign to build a shelter, and charging the county over $239,000 annually from the taxpayers while they continue to do what they want with the dogs. When I read the newspaper this morning quoting board president of humane society shumaker (who did not show up to the meeting last night) as saying the volunteers are emotional, in an attempt to degrade us I suppose, and that he did not want us against him ( we are), I would like to respond that we take that as a compliment, because we care about the animals. Perhaps he prefers the lack of emotion it must have taken by their employees Darlena Hall and Beau Anderson in the cruel killings that happened on his watch over the yrs ( she s still an employee) So, our proposal to you is this: Keep your humane society pet shop, and the emotional volunteers will help to build a new shelter. We should also send the mayor a dictionary, so that she may look up the meaning of travesty.
