After being donated by Baldwin Locomotive Works for only $ 1.00, the Baldwin 60000 made its historic trek to The Franklin Institute in 1933. The citizens of Philadelphia witnessed an iconic event as the locomotive slowly traveled through the streets while tracks were relayed every 200 feet. Once at the Institute, the walls of the exhibit were built around the locomotive to accommodate its massive 350-ton size.
