After catching up on the news today, I realize that this Thanksgiving I have a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful that I was not raped in college. I am thankful that I am not regularly harassed and, ultimately murdered, by the police. I am thankful that my children do not have to flee the wonderful country Mexico where, as a young person I did a lot of growing up, because of corruption and violence that have become the norm. But seriously, is that the bar? Is it that low? So, thank you for the humble safety and joy and delight of thanksgiving. Its hard to feel truly joyful when there is so much suffering.
