After celebrating its third season with success, The Heliconian Choir and Orchestra is looking to expand its ranks and calling for auditions! We will contact you by email to confirm your audition time/date. Your audition must be organized in advance with us. Thank you for your cooperation. Please e-mail the following when you contact us to schedule an audition: Resume Bio Headshot Repertoire list Auditions will be held at The Heliconian Club (35 Hazelton Avenue, Toronto, ON) on the following dates: Tuesday, August 27th - 4:00 - 9:00pm Wednesday, August 28th - 4:00 - 9:00pm Sunday, September 8th - 2:00 - 6:00pm Audition Requirements: CHOIR: Please prepare two (2) contrasting pieces of any genre (preferably in languages other than English). You may audition unaccompanied or accompanied. Accompanists are not supplied. Including some Baroque repertoire in your audition is strongly suggested, though not required. The audition may also include ear training (i.e intervals/chords), sight-singing, determination of range, and singing in harmony with another part. Audition Requirements: ORCHESTRA: Please prepare one (1) solo work (either accompanied or unaccompanied; accompanists are not supplied). The audition will also include a sightreading portion. The Heliconian Choir and Orchestra will resume regular rehearsals in September 2013. Rehearsals are project-based, meaning we rehearse every Wednesday from 12:00pm - 2:30pm in Heliconian Hall, 4-6 weeks prior to each concert. A modest honorarium is offered to full-time participants at the end of the seasons.
