After cruising in the first game of the playoffs with a 19-7 win, - TopicsExpress

After cruising in the first game of the playoffs with a 19-7 win, the Report had a tough second round game against a feisty young team. With some masterful pitching and a couple of clutch hits and catches, the Injury Report hung on (Sparky literally!) last night and pulled out an instant classic. By the time the story of Bob’s 7th inning pitching is retold a few times it will become more mythical than Brett’s drunken championship-winning homerun. But I’m not sure it can get more dramatic than the actual facts…you can’t make this stuff up! Bob picked to be visitors and bat first against an undefeated team of youngsters from a physical therapy unit (i.e., they are fit!), served up a meat-ball pitch that ended up a grand slam early in the game then has to face the same guy with two runners on and a 1 run lead in the bottom of the 7th. And not only was it two runners on, but Bob put the winning run on base with a walk to a weak hitter (to create a force at third…that worked…but come on!). To add to the mythical drama, Bob walks the grand slammer to load the bases (now the tying run is at third, winning run is at second), is loudly booed by our opponents who then watched their championships hopes go down the drain with one hopper to Bob (of course!) to end the game. It was epic!!
