After extracting some 24 billion barrels of conventional crude and bitumen, Alberta is currently over $12 billion in debt and is projected to run its 7th consecutive budget deficit. Meanwhile, Norway has, in roughly the same period, socked away $1.5 TRILLION for taxpayers, has no public debt, fully funded social programs that we can only dream of, and a very large nest egg to transition to a new economy.
