After five years of wrongful imprisonment in Cuba, I am pleased Alan Gross has been reunited with his family and returned home to the United States. While Alan’s freedom is welcome, we must not forget about the lack of freedom today that exists for the 11 million citizens of Cuba. I am concerned about the commitments made by President Obama’s administration during this negotiation, including his release of three convicted Cuban spies. As we celebrate the release of this American, it is important to remember the Castro regime has oppressed, imprisoned, and murdered countless friends and relatives of Cuban-Americans across the State of Florida.
