After going to Longford today for a few small things few hellos from people I did not think would remember me so well especially someone I only met in February. It was pretty cool anyway after Longford surprised Dad didnt want to go to any tractor shop... Well... Thats life normally when you want to go somewhere his had enough and it could be weeks before you could go anywhere. My mother said AGFEST wasnt so great cause it was everywhere Dad wants to go instead of her wants. I said to mum you see why I walk around by myself now, so I can go where I want instead of having to go where others want to go... well it was sarcasm haha. Anyway Got back home had lunch and then went to the farm. My day at the farm... Well this be scattered cause it was a big day where lots of things unexpected happened. Still the cattle and the horse and sheep who love my horses left over hay more than the bales of hay from the shed??? So weird... Anyways :D XD :) Charged by a nearly fully grown steer cause I would give him attention and was giving the calf attention. He came up from behind and it was time to play the cattle game. The cattle game is the game of head butts but I think maybe it could have been the fact he wanted a good scratch. Though this was a gentle charge. Later after feeding the cattle some hay I decided it was not enough to keep them quiet. The cattle were bellowing for more. So I cleaned some oats up the rogues pulled off the stack which is not good enough to go through the chaff cutter. Still it was good hay. I collected the first load of oats up and took it too the paddock. As I was preparing to put the oaten hay in a feed lot spot. A sudden pain went up my back and I was furious slamming me arm with a good punch into a near fully grown steers head. He shut up after that and just walked beside me. Later I got from this one steer who is near a full year old a gentle nod he came over and I gave him a scratch on the head he put his nose up to me face and gave a nod then put his head firm in my hands another steer later gave me a couple of licks across the face. I gave him a hug and told him how loving he was of all his family. Was proud to see him walk around his family. If I was to write something of this steer who charged me and near knocked me over if it wasnt for another one within the herd of cattle which charged him also as well. To where he be walking beside me. His getting rougher and rougher each time with his charge. The last charge he got a smack in the head. Later we forgave and the cattle ate their given feed also rounding up the young calves. Wish I had my camera with me at that time. Then again the moment was more special by sight of seeing what happened. The cattle placed all their calves together on a lot of hay separate to their feed. Where they ate not to far away all the little calves in one spot. When it started getting cooler they all rested peacefully together. A couple of days ago a new born calf and a mother bellowing for hours. I thought it was one of the cows wanting to come back. Then after another hour I went to go see being why would a cow bellow for more than an hour near two or three. I went over and found the cattle had been moved across the road. One of the cows had just had a calf and was feeding up but after all that bellowing I knew something was wrong. I found the little calf and moved it across the road. The after birth still drying off. A little boy with a black all over with a touch of white on the tail to under the belly stopping just under the chest where you cannot see it from the front. The mother cow looked at me and she kept nodding her head in the direction of her baby calf. She stood there. Looked at me and looked to the gate. That is when I found her calf and she kept nodding away. I opened the gate and tiny bit by tiny bit I ushered the calf at one moment the calf fell into my arms and I said to him come on. Lets get you to your mum I slowly walked beside him up the road and his mother walked beside us on the other side of the fence. When I got to the gate. I opened the gate and ushered this little calf in his mother well aware I touched her baby. That I had to say to her Here is your newborn child. Congratulations on your new calf. Other small words and she gave a nod to me and found her calf and he was less stressed then and got his feed. Wednesday the 2 of July 2014 the second time I had to help this calf get back to his Mum. He went to the wrong corner behind the gate as all the cattle were moved ahead. Dad freaked and I said its right I got it The mother of the calf came racing back to where she was run into the next paddock. I led the cattle to their feed next. That when I was by my horse after giving a scratch to a heifer born in March. I was having a chat to my horse on how awesome she was. My horse looked over to the cattle and there was the mother with the second day old calf on the 2nd of July 2014. She had come up close to me and my horse and rested near us. With her newborn baby
