After growing up during the Great Depression, my Dad entered the Army Air Corps, the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force. As a member of the 8th Air Force, stationed in Sudbury, England, dear old Dad flew 32 missions over Germany, serving as a navigator on a B-17 bomber, named Chief Osh Kosh for pilot Bud Genz, who was from Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. The Roosevelts: An Intimate History, is placing into sharp focus just what a tremendous impact the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s had on our country, the world and my own family.
