After having a deep conversation with a beautiful woman this morning at 2 AM, Ive realized that its time to start trusting people again, and start looking for a literary agent. She reminded me that I dont, and cant, do everything by myself, and that sometimes, I need help. There are several agencies that Im looking at right now... now the problem is that the search for an agent is distracting me from my writing. Im well ahead on my word quota (my goal is 50,000 by Nov. 30th, thanks to National Novel Writers Month). A stranger isnt going to see me writing in a coffee shop, and decide to give me a chance (JK Rowling), and a celebritys child isnt going to find my manuscript in a used bookstore, and decide to fund it (Christopher Paolini). After my last experience with an agent, its difficult to trust anyone in that position with my dream. I have to do this, though, if I ever intend to be a successful author (which I do). Heroes arent born, theyre made. That applies somewhere, I think...
