After having around 12 hours to digest the news of Carbellion and Signalfire getting booted off of the Rival Sons show tonight at the Route 20 Outhouse and fielding countless calls/text messages, here are my 2 cents for fans/friends... If you purchased tickets or planned to go to the show tonight because you want to check out RIVAL SONS , then we absolutely suggest that you still go. Despite the unprofessional behavior of a last minute cancellation and disappointing decision of refusing to allow the locally based support acts to perform who have been promoting the hell out of the band and the show resulting in notable attendance increases, they are a great band. I have been word of mouth and social media promoting them and have gotten people out to see them in Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago previously. Ive decided that i will go myself tonight as well and have a good time as a fan with other friends that also dig their music. The Rte 20 Outhouse is a great venue with great staff and Im sure the Rival Sons set will be great. That being said... If you were planning on going to support Carbellion or see Carbellion perform tonight we suggest that you dont attend and if youve already purchased tickets demand a refund. Im not advocating being a pain in the ass for the venue or the ticketing agency but in this scenario you paid or were going to pay to support Carbellion. Weve played in support of over 50 national/international touring acts of varying scale over the years. We have played some short sets and not been treated particularly well in isolated instances but we have NEVER been removed from a show at the request of a band- Much less the day before the gig after promoting the hell out of it to support them. It will be very hard to impossible to continue to support them through merch purchases and word of mouth advocacy after swallowing this bitter pill. I fairly recently read that several members of Rival Sons are very spiritual in how they live their lives. I met all four original members Madison awhile back after a show at the Frequency. I found them all very personable and humble despite huge amounts of talent. All I can say to that is actions like this are bad karma period. You just dont bite the hands that feed you in this business where rock n roll is struggling to survive in the US. In closing.. If I see you tonight well hang out. If I dont Ill know why. -Cameron/Carbellion
