After having just read Peter Garwoods review of his lunch at Casa Pascal yesterday, heres one of my dinner on the same day. Our group of four (my mom, our friend with his wife, and me) arrived early at 6pm and were greeted at the door by the super friendly staff and led to our table. I reviewed their chanterelle specials last weekend and lucky for my mom and our friends, it was still available alongside the new Saffron menu, which has some great choices cooked with this unique spice. We ordered chanterelle with onions/garlic/herbs, chanterelle over tagliatelle, Pascals bouillabaisse, and mussels and clams cooked with saffron and presented in its still blazing hot pan. Before it all arrived, we were treated to two amuse bouches (the first one was Goi Cuon, the Vietnamese soft spring roll and the second a mushroom medley with pork balls) to warm up our taste buds along with a choice of oven fresh crusty European style bread. All of it tasted absolutely delicious. We were off to a great start. The appetizers were followed by a mango sorbet as palate cleanser before the main courses arrived. I had the wiener schnitzel, which was as big as the rather large plate (and coincidentally shaped a bit like Switzerland, which celebrated their National Holiday yesterday). The other diners chose the pork medallions with a creamy chanterelle sauce, the Australian beef tenderloin, with a red wine sauce with chanterelle, and the black cod, served with vegetables and spring onions. All of it yummy! I decided to skip dessert and had an espresso with a grappa, while the others enjoyed a serving of Mövenpick ice-cream, together with some after dinner drinks. Casa Pascal is my favorite restaurant in Pattaya both for their breakfast buffet, which I consider a tremendous value at around 200 baht and their dinner service. I was once again delighted with the entire experience. Well trained, friendly, and attentive service. Flavorful food in a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended whenever you want to treat yourself to something special. Unfortunately I dont know how much the total bill was, since I was invited. Based on previous visits, I find the value offered for your money very good though.
