After having worked in the geriatrics ward for a month now, its disheartening to see how some old people live their golden years of their lives - bedbound, uncommunicative and completely dependent on someone else for their needs. And whats worse, is all the sufferings they have to endure without having a say, for example having their blood drawn with needles countless times, having to be suctioned ++, being pulled by their clothes/moved forcefully - all these are so inhumane! I really pray to all the gods & stars that I would die as an independent person man. No way I would want to go through all these! On a brighter note, kudos to all those elderly people who put in extra effort to age gracefully and their supportive family members who go out of their ways to provide for them. And not forgetting our health care professionals who attend to them with their human touch. ❤
