After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.” (Jn 10:4-5) New Living Translation I remember about 10 years ago reading this scripture and breaking down crying! Why? Because I am one of Gods sheep and I didnt know how to recognize His voice! I was not obeying Him because I did not know when He was speaking to me! I did not know how to hear Him...cause in reality...that comes with relationship! I WAS NOT BUILDING UPON MY RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD! I was following every voice I heard because I thought it was God! You do know that there are many voices in this world dont you? (1 Cor 14:10) We have the world! The flesh! and the devil! As well as people around us who try to influence us either in a negative or positive way! I know you know already that the devil will speak to us to get us out of the will of God, but do you know that your flesh will speak too? If you dont believe it, try going on a 3 day fast and see wont your flesh start begging for a chicken leg, a jelly roll and slice of bread with butter on it! Just give me SOMETHING CAUSE I AM STARVING! Oh...our flesh will try to convince us that we are starving to death and weve only been on the fast for 1 hour! The flesh ALWAYS seeks to please self and not God! Oh yes...our flesh, the world and the devil will speak to us and if we do not know and recognize the voice of God, we will find ourselves doing whatever our flesh, the world and the devil tells us to do! So do you see why building our relationship with God is very important! Without relationship we cannot come to know and recognize the voice of God! Thus...we find ourselves following after other voices ...the world...the flesh...and the devil.
