After hearing important news today that shouldve been a step of growth and healing but was of the negative end that resulted in not guilty for the Mike Brown Case...this special monument below feels more prevalent than ever. This is criminal justice system design structure is profiting off human life and is an issue effecting every single one, showing helplessness for our own black and brown beautiful life. From the bludgeoned marking and condemned scarring these verdicts are inflicting to their families and communities, it is a reminder that we must not get distracted from running away and giving up defeated at home... now is the time to RIZE up together and let our truth in our arts to expose the obvious hypocrisy into the work towards a deserving freedom of self, mind and soul equally. The treachery thats been imposed from the beginning that does not start nor end with love... the progression for deserving justice that states protecting and serving instead rather than targeting, implicating and destroying these youths tragically cos of our shining melanin. It is kin into why the individual artistry and visions strives forward flourishing stronger as we combine together intuned into the chaos of this net era. This work all for us and OUR seeds, YOUR seeds, my OWN seeds and THEIR seeds and the generational message from our spirits to carry on to the next youths. We stand and when we fall, get up the hell up from being struck down and keep creating with conscious elevation for the people and the world of inequality cos we all deserving of. #FromBirthOfANationTilNow #EveryLittleStepOfProgressionCounts #KeepOnMovingForward #OnePeaceOneLoveOneLight I thank the Academy and its Board of Governors for this honor, for this recognition. I really wish I could be around for the rest of this century to see what Hollywood does with the rest of the century. Maybe, just maybe, it could be civilization’s game changer. After all, Paul Robeson said, ‘Artists are the radical voice of civilization.’ Each and every one of you in this room, with your gifts and your power and your skills, could perhaps change the way in which our global humanity mistrusts itself. Perhaps we as artists and as visionaries, for what’s better in the human heart and the human soul, could influence citizens everywhere in the world to see the better side of who and what we are as a species - Harry Belafonte
