After hiking to the top of Mount Vesuvius, we took a quick bus ride to Pompeii, one of the cities buried by the eruption way back in the year 79 (not 1979 or 1579, just 79). Pompeii was absolutely amazing for many reasons but mainly because of how well preserved the city is after being completely buried under ash and stone for over a thousand years. The fact that you can actually glimpse into what their day-to-day life entailed is unbelievable.
