After ideas. I have a 10 year old Aspie lad beginning lessons with me tomorrow. He paces, hand flaps & talks to himself in the playground. Im thinking this is stress. His mother intends to drop him and run (even though I have said this might not be the best idea). Anyhoo - he is dysgraphic. I am looking for repetitive and soothing activities that will also build fine motor skills. Something I can even do quietly to distract and attract him to sit with me if he becomes overwhelmed - Im going to look tomorrow for those little spinning tops you twist with your fingers (Whitcoulls? $2 Shops?). I would be very grateful for ideas that are cheap and easy but soothing and generally Aspie soothing type things.
