After laying my hands on the Zambia Millennium development Goals - TopicsExpress

After laying my hands on the Zambia Millennium development Goals (MDG) progressive report for 2013, MDG1: I just felt I should share this and i quote Extreme poverty has reduced from 58% in 1991 to 42.3% in 2010. However, Zambia is still far from reaching the MDG goal of 29% by 2015.Yet, the past twenty years have seen improvements, and the depth of poverty in urban areas has diminished: Copper belt province has already reached its MDG target, and Lusaka province is very close to doing the same. In contrast, the rural provinces of Luapula, Western, Eastern and Northern province remain very distant from their goals. Deliberate efforts to bring these outlying provinces back on track will be needed. Zambia, with a Gini coefficient of 0.65, is among the most unequal countries of the world today. Specific attention to these growing disparities must be high on the agenda of policy marker. end of quote. I have shared this with a view to instil that sense of duty to ensure we all contribute relentlessly to the development of our Country Zambia and to eradication of poverty up to zero. We have spent quiet substantial amount of time on pet issues, perpetual politicking and sometimes doing nothing at all.For the youths and colleagues please let us stand up and be counted among those that managed to change the face of our country Zambia through hard work and change of altitude towards work.
