After listening to the Governor’s budget proposal, I am concerned that it spends taxpayers’ hard earned money inappropriately. Specifically, I am disappointed that, once again, the executive budget proposes using millions to fund political campaigns and provide tuition assistance for illegal immigrants while taxpaying middle-class citizens are struggling to make ends meet and drowning in college loan debt. We should be looking instead to lower the tax burden on New Yorkers and restore and expand TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) for graduate students and other struggling citizens. On a positive note, I was pleased to hear that the Governor plans to implement the recent proposal I put forth with colleagues last month to install bulletproof glass on police vehicles, (nicolemalliotakis/malliotakis-tedisco-boyle-golden-install-bullet-proof-glass-police-cars/), an initiative which would protect those who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.”
