After months of rarely giving any updates on my sister except for her getting transferred I wish I could have better news. On Sunday night my sister was rushed to Valley Medical Emergency room due to seizures and a high fever. Of course my first reaction was the doctors and nurses from the rehab center don’t know her and I believed it was just her twitches. After a few days of monitoring the doctors have concluded she is having seizures and are working to find the source. But with that came more devastating news, the doctors explained she has been in this state of mind for far too long and chances are of her survival are low. They told us that with every seizure she gets more damaged is done to her brain. They told us her brain is still not dead nor is in a veggie state but that her brain waves are abnormal. This means she is giving signs of some sort of veggie state. They stress that a patient with her disease that have survived start to get better after treatment and not worse after 11 months. But they could also admit that she might have been so sedated this pass few months and never given a chance to see how she will react if the medication were completely off. Yesterday my sister was given a lumber puncture not sure why yet but will talk to doctors later. After the news we got of course the family has lost some form of hope since reality needs to be set. She has come so far yet not far enough. But even though the doctors believe she won’t make it I will not give up. We have asked the doctors to giver one more round of all treatments she has had and re run test. Since she is at Valley Medical and this is a teaching hospital hopefully god willing they can find a cure. The family asks for everyone to pray for her and her survival. Thank You Chavez Family
