After more than 2 years life in China (with less than a year to go), so far, I have participated in some academic conferences/seminars (in 2011,2012 and 2013) for my academic engagement, and at the same time made the very best use of my stay in China, by learning some Mandarin Chinese, having built business connections with Chinese companies and Chinese individuals, having learnt how Chinese people behave in business transactions, having attended more than 10 International Trade and Investment Forums/Conferences/Expo/Fair (on behalf of the Embassy of TL in Beijing), in different provinces in China. Some of these are: China Petroleum Summit (Beijing,May 2013), Xiamen International Investment and Trade Fair (Fujian Province,2012), Kunming Export-Import Fair and have visited the China-Myanmar Border Trading Area (Yunnan Province,5-11 June 2013), CPLP Trade Fair in Dili (TL,June-July 2013), many other investment and trade fairs in Beijing and in some other provinces in China (in 2012,2013). I just recently concluded another interesting business trip to the Canton Export-Import Fair (in Guangzhou/Guangdong Province,12-16 Oct), attended in Macau International Trade Fair (in Macau, 16-20 Oct), Beijing International Trade Fair (24-27 Oct), and will be departing again to Macau on 1 Nov for Reuniao dos Altos Funcionarios (on 2 Nov), and for the 4th Ministerial Conference of the Forum of Macau (4 - 6 Nov), with other Timorese delegates we will be accompanying Timorese business representatives in a visit to Zhuhai, a Special Economic Zone in Guangdong Province, China (on 6 Nov), this may also be a very practical and useful tour for Timorese businessmen to observe and learn directly how Oecusse and Atauro can take the model/idea of this small but very developed city. So, the best way to keep myself motivated is, even Im very busy with challenging studies and works at the same time, enjoying and making use of my regular business trips and exposures to the real business activities in different beautiful and vibrant cities and provinces of China, are productive and worthwhile investment. I am thankful that I have chosen the right place where I have started developing both my academic life and continuously earning valuable professional experience for future engagement.
