After more than nine months on the run, David John Pierre who escaped from the Carrera Island Prison on June 23rd of last year, was recaptured in Marabella this afternoon. Around 3:00 PM, three police officers on mobile patrol in the Marabella district spotted Pierre walking along the road way. When he realised he was recognized Pierre attempted to run away. The policemen alighted and gave chase and he was held a short while later. Pierre was taken to the San Fernando Police Station, where he is being questioned by officers. He was sentenced to death for the murder of a Sangre Grande taxi-driver, 52-year-old Chanker Mootilal, in October 2002.
