After my post this morning... This just happened in the car, driving Liv to work... We were 50 minutes early. Me: Ok, we just have to stop at the local pet store to get your fish food and guinea pig bedding for Ems pig before work. Liv: WHAT???? No Me: Sorry but we have to, I wont have time later. Itll take 5 minutes and its across the parking lot from your work. You need to pick out the fish food yourself and then youll have 45 minutes before your shift, to sit and prepare yourself instead of 50 minutes. Liv: Dont ever do this to me again. So, its like this. Sometimes as a very busy parent of 3 kids, I dont always have the luxury of giving her tons of lead time for a change in activity, but Im very conscious of her need for that. Sometimes (ok, basically always) Im running at the speed of sound, trying to get to the next class, meeting, activity, obligation... and thats life. I try hard to give her notice on as many things as possible but sometimes, its just not possible. I guess the best I can hope for is that these sudden change in plans will demonstrate to her that when life changes course, its not the end if the world...and we will survive. Maybe it will demonstrate flexibility and not rigidity... What do I know?
