After one event appearance, I was even more glad to have secured - TopicsExpress

After one event appearance, I was even more glad to have secured the services of my booking clerk when she proved herself able to handle the kinds of situations that go on in my industry which I had felt the need to brief her on on the way to the event. She was pleasant and professional towards people all day at the expo, and helped with setting up and packing down. On our drive home from the event, she told me of events of the day, where another stand holder came up to ours, heavily inspected the items we had for sale on our products stand, next to our readings stand, and then loudly pounced at her about one item, and of course did this while I was away from the stand running a talk. He was irate about some stickers we had for sale. Pagan and Proud?! Pagan and Proud! How could you sell those... Here!? Do you know what that means? Are you a pagan, are you? Well, are you a Christian? Well dont you have any beliefs at all? Well? Clearly the third degree. Then to my clerks answer affirming that she didnt class herself as a pagan, nor have a particular religion, the rant went on and my clerk was further interrogated... So, what DO you believe then, hey? And then, my well worded up booking clerk smiled, unaffected, unflinching, and said I believe that I am a girl. He walked off in a terrible huff, and left her alone, never to return to our stand to cast further judgment upon her or us. I returned to the stand, kept working, unaffected, but feeling my clerks had some kind of triumph she would no doubt tell me when she ess ready to, and he gave me funny looks each time I had to walk past his on the way back to ours for the rest of the day. My booking clerk waited until the end of the day, as we drove homeward to tell me that story, whilst laughing about it. No doubt, had she told me it earlier, I would have had quite a discussion with that man about how he treats women and people who dont meet his select criteria of beliefs, which was even more odd given he was offering himself as a psychic, and at a psychic festival. It pays to have a good booking clerk with a great sense of humor, a quick mind, a pleasant answer, and a smile, especially when faced with that kind of behavior. Jacquelene Close Moore
