After photographing several weeks with the Fuji X100s I must - TopicsExpress

After photographing several weeks with the Fuji X100s I must clearly say this is one of the best cameras I have ever had! In terms if sheer image quality the Leica M9 delivers superior results. But the Fuji is light, unobtrusive and it has all the technical gimmicks one can wish for: Integrated 3 stop ND filter, Focus peaking, split image focussing aid, best viewfinder I have ever used (hybrid). And yes, for me optical viewfinders are dead (except for the Leica rangefinders of course). This Fuji EVF is a killer viewfinder. Even metter than the OMD one. The layout if the Fuji EVF is better arranged than the Olympus one. The virtual horizon and the easy to use live histogram are wonderfully integrated. ISO up to 6400 is not a problem for the Fuji and the film simulation modes are just a joy to use. On the other side the Leica M has other qualities. Build quality is second to none. Image quality is spectacular, the lenses are the best I have ever used. I love both cameras and one of them is always with me. But I think Fuji is making many things right at the moment. They have wonderful Fujinon lenses, great build quality, outstanding classic design and affordable price ranges (not cheap but in a realistic range). If Fuji can keep this up they could indeed become the new Leica of the future (as Zack Arias and David Hobby have already stated).
