After photographing the fall of Romanian dictator Nicolae - TopicsExpress

After photographing the fall of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu in December 1989, Mr. Parry offered to help his colleagues by carrying their film back with him to London to distribute to their agencies. The film never arrived, and neither did Mr. Parry. His plane was hit by a missile. Mr. Parry’s death hit his friends hard, especially Mr. Sullivan. “I was heartbroken when we lost Ian, and as a young director of photography, I of course felt an enormous amount of guilt as I had agreed to let him go to Romania to cover the Civil War,” he said. “I was determined that I would try and create something positive from this tragedy.” lens.blogs.nytimes/2014/09/03/a-legacy-helps-young-photographers/
