After reading about next years quota proposals ive come to some conclusions!!! The stocks being reduced are suppose to be data poor or poor landing figures...? Who is researching the state of these stocks? as weve seen no one!! U10 vessels all around the coast are restricted to bycatch at best on many stocks so do not have the ability to show what is there!! The Amount of just sizeable cod in the southern north sea is better than been for years,however unlike years ago you cant catch them because we have to use 140mm gill nets,so to see any in those nets there must be some there!! Skate (thornbacks) around the thames estuary are a flipping nightmare as you cant really try for them as youd catch too many,and now there banned a lot of discarding will be occuring as you cant avoid them as they are everywhere.... Thornback skate should be a seperate TAC and increased by 100% at least to reflect what is actually available.... NS Soles have been better the last 2 yrs ,after 2 poorish years and need increase too...... If you cant catch whats there through regulation how can you prove it is there???
