After reading all these amazing birth stories I thought Id post my own.... My second little girl, Matilda Alice arrived happy & healthy on the central delivery suite in Burnley on 10/4/14 weighing 4lb 15oz. After my first daughter Ella Grace was born smaller than expected and a not so nice pregnancy and worries about babys growth this time around I was induced at 37 weeks. The first induction failed and I gradually got myself in a bit of a state, but Jo the midwife in charge on the antenatal ward was amazing in reassuring me and understanding that I dont usually break down in tears as easy as I did! I was eventually taken to delivery suite where my waters were broken and the drip cranked up. The midwives looking after me, Rebecca Law and a student midwife Natalie were incredible. They kept me focused and less than 5 hours after my induction was started Matilda arrived. Unfortunately a 3rd degree tear meant I went to theatre where again the staff were great and although I was petrified the team were so calming. The guy that stayed with me talked me through everything and kept me calm. My husband tells me while I was in theatre Rebecca & Natalie kept him calm and helped him dress Matilda. Due to Matildas birth weight I was kept on the post natal ward for a couple of days and the midwives were so kind and helpful. I can only remember Aimee Holdsworth (?) name, she was brilliant as were they all. My little lady is growing so fast but I cannot help but sing the praises of all at Burnley. After initially wanting to deliver at Blackburn birthing centre, Im almost glad the decision was taken away from me because the care myself and Matilda received was truly amazing! Thank you so so much for everything x
