After receiving the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, we took a collective - TopicsExpress

After receiving the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, we took a collective step back from the social media frenzy and considered all the variables. ALS is a horrific disease and we most certainly support research to find a cure for this and other currently incurable diseases. As Christians we have a moral responsibility to protect and promote all human life from conception to natural death. Among the various types of research funded by the ALS Association, is Embryonic Stem Cell Research, which is the destruction of innocent human life. This cannot, under any circumstances, be promoted or supported. In responding to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, we are taking and encourage the following morally acceptable approach: * Send financial support to a research organization that does NOT support or promote embryonic stem cell research. Such as the John Paul II Medical Research Institute [a secular non-profit research institute whose clearly stated goal is to eradicate serious illnesses, including ALS, without embryonic stem cell research]. More information can be found and secure donations made online at: jp2mri.org/donate-now.htm OR checks can be made payable to: John Paul II Medical Research Institute and mailed to: John Paul II Medical Research Institute 540 E. Jefferson Street, Suite 202 Iowa City, IA 52245 * Contact the ALS Association and urge them to publicly commit to immediately & permenantly discontinue any use or support of embryonic stem cell research. [email protected] or call 202-407-8580 “Any treatment which claims to save human lives, yet is based upon the destruction of human life in its embryonic state, is logically and morally contradictory, as is any production of human embryos for the direct or indirect purpose of experimentation or eventual destruction.” ~ Saint John Paul II
