After recieving the tragic news of the Seke Road carnage, I spent my entire afternoon trying to piece together why Kombis are increasingly becoming a menace on the Zimbabwean road, in particular Harare, Gweru, Masvingo and Bulawayo. My puzzle is that the more we have been seeing elevated deaths on our roads, the more daring the Kombis have become with respect to speed and road-unworthy vehicles. Of all facts I gathered, the most chilling is that over 80% of Commuter transport in Zimbabwe is now owned by active Police staff. Where do we go and how?
