After remaining under curfew for eight days, life limped back to normal in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday. Curfew was imposed in Budgam town last week following group clashes between the members of two communities. Authorities lifted curfew from most parts of the district and people in large numbers throngedmarkets to buy essentials. Shops and business establishments reopened and traffic reappeared on the roads. Reports said members of Shia and Sunni communities offered Salat-e-Touba at Sohipora village. “Hundreds of people from both the communities offered the prayers jointly,” Sohipora village was one of the worst affected villages during the recent clashes. Though towns did not witness deployment of forces today, the authorities had kept contingents of police and CRPF on alert. “Everything was calm on Sunday. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the district,” said a police official.
