After repeated police harassment and the seizure of their ride, the Caravana Climática bus, YASunidoss activists triumphantly arrived in Lima today to raise a ruckus outside COP20. YASunidos is fighting petroleum extraction in Yasuni National Park in Ecuador. Communities like theirs refusing to compromise with fossil fuel extraction are the real solution to the climate crisis, not corrupt diplomats negotiating away their future. They faced continued police harassment on their way to Lima, but they would not be deterred and forged ahead and arrived today at the Tribunal for the Rights of Mother Nature outside the COP. Today and tomorrow the Tribunal is hearing cases from communities fighting ecological crimes. Perhaps the Ecuadoran government doesnt want to be exposed for allowed oil drilling in an extremely bio diverse park in the Amazon? Stay tuned, La Caravana Climática por América Latina still needs your help to get its bus back and get clear of the authorities.
