After seeing Unbroken this afternoon, we found ourselves at Tevere Restaurant for dinner. For those of you who dont know, Tevere started out, eons ago, as a non kosher restaurant and then became a kosher meat restaurant on the UES of NYC. It is a small cozy room with a very solicitous and helpful staff. We usually make a reservation; but tonight we just walked in and they were able to seat us. We got there about 6:30 and within a half hour it was quite full. Following two glasses of delicious Montepulciano wine with which we munched on very crispy flatbread, my husband had the artichokes, which looked better than my picture, and were delicious as usual. I had a salad which was bright and fresh. We both had veal chops with mushrooms which were moist and full of flavor. We shared berries with zabaglione for dessert. The menu listed strawberries but we were served blueberries. The blues were very sweet and the zabaglione had a pleasant taste; but was not as frothy and light as I would have liked. My guess is that it wasnt made expressly for us but was sitting and waiting for a bit so it tightened up. Tevere is expensive but always serves food of a consistently high quality. Patrons are treated well and you always leave feeling that you have enjoyed a fine dinner in a peaceful atmosphere.
