After seeing the news stories and posts about the BCSO officers I have to ask: What kind of officer do you want to respond when you need help and what kind of detective do you want working your case? After being on the city council for so many years seeing what sub-par pay does to a police department I lobbied for certification pay and tenure pay increases for EPD officers. With our proximity to Austin and Round Rock we have to be competitive. Otherwise you will have other departments reject officers responding to YOUR emergency. If you want good officers you have to pay them a competitive wage. The population of this county is growing. If your police force does not keep up with that growth the crime rate will go up as well. Contact your County Commissioner and County Judge to voice your opinion.
