After serving six of the eight years sentenced to her back in 2008, Bronx rapper Remy Ma is back home! The former Terror Squad front lady was released earlier today (July 31) from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York, around 8 a.m. EST. According to reports, Remy was greeted by husband Papoose, in addition to her manager and members of her entourage. If you recall, Remy phoned into the Angie Martinez’s show on Power 105 show and spoke on her eagerness to get back into the game, while also dishing her thoughts on Nicki Minaj, saying that the YMCMB rapper has been a long time supporter of her. Check out Remy’s in-depth interview here with Billboard Mag discussing her plans for music, her relationship with Fat Joe and more, here! *UPDATE* Remy Ma’s release has been delayed, contrary to earlier reports. According to Rap-Up: The 34-year-old, born Reminisce Smith, was expected to be released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York on Thursday morning after serving six years for shooting her former friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph. However, she is still in custody. An official at Bedford Hills informed REVOLT that Remy was involved in a disciplinary problem on July 21, the same day she called into Angie Martinez on Power 105.1. Due to that infraction, she must wait until a report about the incident has been filed. Remy Ma reportedly spent the last week of her incarceration in solitary confinement, but her team did not believe it would delay her release. The New York State Department of Corrections inmate database currently lists her as being “in custody.”
