After some mind blowing sunsets last during last weekends summer - TopicsExpress

After some mind blowing sunsets last during last weekends summer rainstorms, weve had pretty clear skies the past couple nights. Was lucky enough to catch a couple of them. This shot was taken from the Tahoe Keys Pier looking west towards the Rubicon shore about 7 miles away. It was getting pretty dark, but I was trying to squeeze off a few last shots and capture the intense color. A couple other shooters had already packed up... but when I saw the swells coming in looking so cool, I stayed and tried to make something out of it. The color of the water was an intense crimson / maroon hue from reflecting the deeply colored sky. The swells were coming straight in towards the camera and caught the light really nicely. I saw a string of geese swimming in from the left and wanted to catch their silhouette in the shimmering waves. They were just a few yards too distant to get them in the perfect position to be more noticeable tho, so I had to take what the shot had to offer. Perhaps if I had had Tom K ( from Florida ) there, he might have whispered the birds into perfect position. But alas... it was just me alone trying to create with the camera the image I had in my head. Close... but no cigar... : )K Canon 5Dmk3 - Canon 70-200 2.8 @ 188mm ISO 320 - 1/125 @ f/2.8 - GND3 Filter - Tripod - Mirror Lock Up - 2 Second Shutter Delay - More info below
