After spending 14 years in St, Xaviers, Kolkata from Class 1 to College ( B.Com - Hons.), there were a few teachers who left a lasting impression which to this day I fondly cherish. In school, they were Rev. Fr. Picachy, our Headmaster who later on became the Archbishop, the one and only Fr. Bouche, Fr. Desbruslais, Mr. BM Chatterjee ( Maths), Mr. NR Chowdhury ( Physics), Mr. D Subramaniam ( Chemistry), Mrs. DCruz ( Class Teacher 4 B), Mr. C Mckertich ( Class Teacher - 8B), Mr. BC Dey ( Bengali) and Fr. Remedios ( Games). Fr, Segals classes on Bible History was always an attraction because he was Christ personified. Brother Lukans antics in the Craft class needed to be experienced to be believed. And in college, the redoubtable Fr.Joris, the duo of Mr. N. Viswanathan ( English) and Mr.Subrata Roychowdhury ( Comml.& Indst.Law) spewing venom against each other in their inimitable style alongwith the cool and competent Mr. Kamlani ( Accountancy) and Mr. MM Rehman ( Business Organisation). The collective contribution made by the above individuals have played a great part in shaping my destiny. On this Teachers Day I pay my deep respect to all of them.
