After spending one and a half weeks on our verandah floor I could - TopicsExpress

After spending one and a half weeks on our verandah floor I could cry. We have a polished concrete floor. It needed resealing, which we have done twice before using Fauxtex concrete sealer. I spent two days scrubbing the floor to get rid of ingrained dirt & stains, then pressure washed it off. The surface still had sealer sealing it as the concrete didnt absorb any water, it beaded off. However it had been over 5 years since it was last sealed. We still had a half drum of the Fauxtex left, which wasnt enough, so took ourselves off to Parchem Coffs Harbour, they sell the equivalent (supposedly) as Fauxtex is no longer made, according to them. The shop assistant at Parchem advised us what to do, to clean it, pressure wash it down, test for any moisture in the slab by taping plastic down onto the top and leaving to see if any condensation builds up on the plastic, he said it would go on just the same as the Fauxtex with a roller. We did everything he said, we read the instruction book back to front. Off we go with 2 x 20 litre drums of Lustreseal Matt finish sealer - his recommendation. $200 per drum! Did everything they said, I had scrubbed & cleaned it, so Pat was the sealer guy :) First coat went on well, although for some reason we had roller marks here and there but thought they should go away with the second coat, dont remember this problem with the Fauxtex (I had done the original sealing and resealing). Waited the drying time before recoating 24 hours, all dry, and the second coat went on. Well, what a bloody disaster - fine hairline cracking all over the surface, looks bloody awful, what a waste of a week and a half. Bear in mind that we had done this 2 times previously with no problems. Dont know why we needed 2 drums either - one drum will do 2 coats of 60m2 - our verandah is only that 60m2. What to do, its a bloody awful mess!!!!!!!
