After spending the day hiding in bed and on the couch, I went out to the barn this evening.In the past, when things went wrong, Cocoa was always my comfort at the barn. (Hans is an incredible gelding, but hes a clown, not a comfort and Tootsie is an overly dramatic mare. She doesnt exactly go for snuggles. Shes more of a suck it up and get over it kind of mare...) Cocoas quiet presence was so calming and soothing and I always knew if things were wrong, i coudl go hug him or ride him, or take a lesson on him.). Tonight, I went out to the barn and I called Nate to the fence. He perked up his ears and ambled over. He came in and a spent a good long time brushing and groomign him and leaning into his side, just listening to him breathe. Then, I saddled him up and we went for a trail ride. Thank you Nate for being my comfort horse tonight. Thank you for calming me, for maing me giggle and your wiggling nose begging for treats, for being happy to see me and for being such a calming horse. Thank you for also insisting I ride correctly, just like Cocoa would have and for always being a teacher!!!!!
