After talking with NSW fisheries I learnt that nearly all sharks killed on the east coast are caught on the beach side of the nets with empty stomachs and more harmless animals like rays and juvenile hammerhead sharks are caught than any dangerous sharks. White Sharks swim the east coast everyday and are of minimal threat but our nets are killing indiscriminately and provide a false sense of security. They should be removed.
