After the Shelton Spike Lee films, a lot of people who go to - TopicsExpress

After the Shelton Spike Lee films, a lot of people who go to motion pictures, in Westwood, just outside of UCLA, have not forgotten the riots that took place during the premieres. The have not forgotten the losses or the overruns of his (and others) pictures. I guess Oprah windbag didnt want to invest in this, either? Now, if Costner wants to put his money, where his mouth is and produce an independent picture, more power to him. The studios (and theater owners) are looking to make money. The investors are looking to make money. Most people who have money, arent interested and therefor, the potential for this picture to return a financial dividend, is bleak. Studios are looking at what audiences they can draw in. The question arises, Would a person spend $50 for two tickets, candy, popcorn and other concessions, to see something that is played out in the news? Me? Id rather drop this type of money (or even $100) at a John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, Clint Eastwood or even a Mel Brooks film festival. Two things are certain- There will be a good time, folks attending will act with manners, and there wont be any riots.
