After the Supreme Court of India fumed and flagged the red card - TopicsExpress

After the Supreme Court of India fumed and flagged the red card over the blatant misuse of the red beacon by politicians, the Goa Government by a notification issued on 3rd July last year notified the list of persons entitled to display the red beacon on their vehicle. Those only allowed are Governor, Chief Minister and Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court, Leader of Opposition, Advocate General and the Chief Secretary. Despite this the South Goa Member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar who is a lawyer himself has since his election in May last year been illegally and blatantly flashing the red beacon in clear defiance and amounting to a gross contempt of the Supreme Court’s order. He was even seen pompously and shamelessly displaying his violation of the law right at the very doorsteps of that holy temple in South Goa. Narendra Sawaikar seems to be so infatuated with the red beacon. Infact immediately after taking over as Chief Minister in March 2012 Manohar Parrikar shockingly appointed Narendra Sawaikar as Chairman of Goa Law Commission so that while being groomed for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat he could have at his disposal an official vehicle to misuse for party work at the cost of the State exchequer. Over those two and a half years years Narendra Sawaikar traveled all over with that official vehicle for political party work while he then also illegally used the red beacon. Now Narendra Sawaikar as Member of Parliament is a Law maker and should act responsibly while never ending up as a Law breaker. But for him life seems to be impossible without that red beacon. Will better sense prevail in my friend Narendra Sawaikar? Save the embarrassment of the authorities having to seize the red beacon and book you under the Motor Vehicles Act. It would be contempt of the Supreme Courts Judgment and direction if this was not done by the authorities. Just because your party is in power at the centre and in Goa, the rule of the jungle cannot prevail in high-handedly using a perk and privilege you are not entitled to. To use that red beacon by way of your right please wait till Narendra Modi makes you a Minister. The manner in which Manohar Parrikar is so quickly cracking the wait may not be very long. You will however have to start being vocal in Parliament and display your potential so that Narendra Modi is convinced and impressed that you deserve the red beacon. It will then be ‘Acche din’ for you without having to flout the law.
