After the first day in Parma I was in love and could happily live - TopicsExpress

After the first day in Parma I was in love and could happily live there. The people are so happy and friendly, the city and art is amazing, the food is spectacular. I was drawn again and again to the Baptistry and Cathedral and spent much of my time there. Im already missing it. But aside from my babies it was little things from home that I found myself missing. Things we take for granted here in the US. And since getting home last night Im like a little kid at Christmas having them again. I will never again take for granted having as much ice as I want (because bottles of warm water just do not help when you have walked 6 miles in 90 degree heat and if you do manage to get ice its like 3 cubes that wink out of existence in 60 seconds flat) washcloths (because..well...because!), air conditioning everywhere, not having to navigate my semi cripple self up 10 flights of stairs to get in and out the front door of, well, anything, a big cup of coffee with cream (as much as I love the espresso I couldnt convince anyone to give me a big cup of it with pourable cream haha) and last but not least bathrooms. Especially bathrooms that have toilet paper and are not a circle down on the floor that I have no clue how any female could ever use. So today I plan to drink lots of coffee and ice water, swim, wash my face a million times, not walk up any stairs, and appreciate my air conditioned bathroom. Haha!
