After the frenetic nature of the past week, today has been all - TopicsExpress

After the frenetic nature of the past week, today has been all about regrouping and working wearily through the “to do” list. A day earlier than planned shock! horror! my room is now empty! of all bags save my own. Three bags of kit, for the U14 & U18s, were taken to the Gymkhana by Harshad and his boys this morning, while I ferried a bag of spare pads, stumps and balls to Reality’s office. For the record, the kit distribution this visit reads: PFF 50%, Tarapur schools 20%, Reality Tour schools 10%, NGO Salaam Bombay 10%, PFF recycled 5%, Yuma Football Project 3%, and The B.J. Children’s Home 2%. So the cupboard is now bare. On the strength of my new found space I got one of the temple guys to give the ‘ole homestead a quick once over with a wet rag this afternoon. But wait, there’s more, tonight I sleep in clean sheets. Heady stuff! One final session tomorrow morning at the Gymkhana, a few heartfelt farewells, and it’ll be time to pack. Five weeks gone in a trice? Not really. It has, as if the final overs of a T20 game, been a bit of a slog. Unlike other cities, Mumbai doesn’t get any easier with each visit. Nothing dramatic: we’re not talking – abandon hope, all ye who enter here. Just hard yakka. Hell, twas ever thus. But enough of this nonsense, Mani’s rice plate beckons.
